About

End GBVF Collective

The End GBVF Collective was created as an informal and voluntary platform, open to all stakeholders involved in the response to gender-based violence and femicide in South Africa. The Collective provides a space for government, civil society, development agencies, and private citizens to collaborate and strategise together.

Originating from the #TotalShutdown Movement in 2018, which presented 24 Demands to President Cyril Ramaphosa, the End GBVF Collective has played a crucial role in shaping the National Strategic Plan (NSP) in collaboration with the South African government. The NSP outlines six key pillars aimed at eradicating gender-based violence and femicide by 2030.

People interested in making a difference in the fight against GBVF are invited to contribute their expertise by joining one or more of the six pillars. Pillar teams focus on implementing key interventions outlined in the NSP, while Coordination and Communication Teams oversee the work of the pillars and the collaborative as a whole.
