Other Support for Survivors

Thuthuzela Care Centres (TCC)
Thuthuzela Care Centres (TCCs) are vital facilities in South Africa’s effort to combat rape. You can go to a TCC at a clinic or hospital to report a rape, or you can go to the police station. At a TCC, the staff will help you get medical care right away and set up counselling. They’ll also help you if you want to make a police report, either now or later, and support you with counselling and getting ready for court if the case goes to trial.

GBV Command Center
The Gender-Based Violence Command Centre (GBVCC) operates under the Department of Social Development. On their website, you can report cases of human trafficking, abuse of older persons, child sexual assault, domestic violence, abuse of persons with disabilities, and sexual assault. After reporting your case, a social worker will reach out to discuss the next steps and provide support.

Childline
Are you a child or teenager in need of support? Childline offers a confidential service for children up to the age of 18, as well as adults that have concerns about children. Reach out to speak to someone about your worries and talk about issues affecting you.
