Civil Society Engagements: Action Caucuses

The Presidential Summit on GBVF II highlighted the urgent need for strengthened support to GBVF service providers, with recommendations to increase funding, improve training, and expedite legislative processes, including the VSS Bill and Intersectoral Shelter Policy. For sex workers, the document calls for the decriminalisation of sex work, the integration of sex worker needs into existing GBVF programmes, and legislative action to end violence and discrimination. Leadership across sectors was emphasised, with calls for clear accountability structures, better coordination, and moral leadership. The report also stresses the importance of community and civil society collaboration, improved health services for pregnant women, and enhanced provincial accountability. The summit advocates for multisectoral partnerships and sustainable, trauma-informed interventions to effectively address GBVF and femicide in South Africa.
