Ahead of the Presidential GBVF Summit II, the North West province hosted its own pre-summit in October 2022, bringing together 350 delegates from government, civil society, and faith-based organisations. This report provides a snapshot of the province’s GBVF landscape, revealing the harsh realities faced by communities—particularly women-led households—amid economic hardship and systemic challenges. The report highlights key crime data, including an increase in reported rape cases and the concerning prevalence of GBV in both private and public spaces. It also examines the province’s progress in implementing the National Strategic Plan (NSP) on GBVF, noting efforts such as awareness campaigns, men’s programmes, and the expansion of support services. However, challenges remain, from limited funding for civil society to the need for stronger multi-sectoral collaboration. With recommendations focused on accountability, leadership, and improved coordination, this report contributes to the national conversation on strengthening GBVF response efforts.
