The National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence & Femicide (GBVF) 2020-2030 outlines South Africa’s roadmap for addressing gender-based violence and femicide over the next decade. Focused on creating a safe, violence-free environment, the plan sets clear, strategic outcomes centred on six key pillars: accountability, prevention, justice, response, economic empowerment, and research. With an emphasis on bold leadership, multi-sectoral coordination, and survivor-centred support, the NSP seeks to drive social change, tackle harmful norms, and ensure that survivors have access to the necessary resources for healing. By involving a wide range of stakeholders—including government, civil society, and the private sector—the NSP aims to transform South Africa into a place where women, children, and LGBTQIA+ persons can thrive, free from violence.
