This scoping review explores interventions aimed at preventing violence against young children in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This work was created through a partnership between Boston University’s Center for Innovation in Social Work and Health, the Children’s Institute at the University of Cape Town, and the NGO True North. The review highlights the urgent need for violence prevention during the early years, a critical period for child development. Through a comprehensive analysis of current programmes, the report examines successful strategies, including parenting and caregiver support, gender-transformative approaches, and preschool education initiatives. It also addresses the challenges of adapting and scaling these interventions in diverse socio-cultural contexts. The findings stress the importance of integrated interventions and long-term, contextually relevant approaches to ensure sustained impact. This review aims to inform future policy and programme development, encouraging evidence-based solutions to protect young children from violence and promote their healthy development.
