Reflective Report on the Implementation of the South African National Strategic Plan on GBVF

This report provides a critical reflection on the implementation of the National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (NSP on GBVF) from 2020 to 2022 and served as a foundational document for the Presidential GBVF Summit II in November 2022. While progress was made in areas such as legal reform and service provision, challenges remained in financial reporting, multi-sectoral coordination, and the establishment of key bodies like the National Council for GBVF (NCGBVF). The report highlights the urgent need for stronger accountability, accelerated implementation, and amplified efforts to overcome systemic barriers. Key recommendations call for localised, survivor-focused services, improved resource allocation, and integrated research systems. It also emphasises the necessity of scaling up prevention efforts and ensuring the enforcement of laws and policies.
